Director of Maintenance
The Maintenance Director is one of the most important roles on the leadership team. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and interacts with everyone from top executives to vendor partners to our lifelong customers on a regular basis. The role has complete responsibility for the maintenance of all facets of our operations, including leadership and management of the company's maintenance departments - all facilities, rides, waterparks, games, food & beverage, and housing.
Critical to this position is setting an example of collaborative, engaging, skilled and positive leadership for the department as well as across the entire organization. We are in the entertainment and hospitality industries. The right leader in this role is someone who has deep experience leading complex maintenance organizations and who embodies the idea of hospitality by who they are and how they work.
Our Key Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical physical engineering is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience leading a large maintenance department in a similar organization or large plant or complex operating environment where facility maintenance is at the core of the business or operating unit.
- 10+ years leading a team beyond early career years as individual contributor; fewer years may be ok if in exceptional and complex maintenance environments.
- Must have a hospitality mindset --- have a collaborative, engaging and team-oriented style – no silos, no egos and service-minded.
- Experience as a financial manager, preparing budgets and working with financial statements.
- Experience working with and presenting to an executive leadership team.
- Experience working within quality systems.
- Excellent understanding of facility maintenance and plant mechanical systems.
- Good understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Good understanding of HVAC and Refrigeration systems.
- Good understanding of pumps and motors.
- Familiarity with welding practices, steel types, and finishes.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic prints, and parts diagrams.
- Ability to evaluate equipment for spare parts needs.
- Excellent understanding of the strategic integration of operating systems.
- Excellent project management skills.

You must have a track record demonstrating this kind of leadership.
Organizational skills: You must be agile and have the ability to multi-task many critical and interrelated functions and operations, all in a timely manner, meet project deadlines and lead others to do the same.
Technology skills: The ability to use technology to perform any and all critical tasks required of the role, including typical operating systems and hardware, and commonly used software packages; includes knowledge of maintenance and reporting systems.
Analytical skills: The ability to make good strategic decisions, as well as critical ‘’in the moment” decisions; must be excellent and able to analyze existing data for positive and negative trends and discern between correlation and causal relationships. These skills should extend to systems, data and engineering problems.
Technical background: Practical experience resolving maintenance problems in the field, plant or other operating environment, including all the elements of standard maintenance department functions.
