Attractions Mechanic Internship

Morey's Piers is seeking an Attractions Mechanic Intern to support the day-to-day operations of our Maintenance Department for the upcoming season.

The intern will be assigned to a Senior Attractions Mechanical Technician Mentor. This individual will follow and assist the Senior Technician in their duties and develop an understanding of their role. The Attractions Mechanic Intern's attention to detail in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining amusement equipment is an essential part of this position. The Attractions Maintenance Department is the first line of support for our guest and employee safety and the company's success. This position will assist full-time employees that maintain and repair amusement rides, games, water parks, and support equipment.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning how to read and interpret schematics and drawings of hydraulic, mechanical assemblies, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Develop a working knowledge of hardware types and grades, ability to know what to use, where, when, and how.
  • Obtaining knowledge and use of proper tools to complete tasks.
  • Learn to make minor repairs on electrical systems such as, but not limited to: replacing switches, changing light sockets, replacing light bulbs, etc.
  • Assembling/disassembling and cleaning mechanical ride components.
  • Training on how to perform maintenenace work according to procedures and how to complete work orders via computer or tablet.
  • Training on how to repair and maintain amusement equipment rides according to ASTM and NJ RIDE Standards.
  • Learning how to work alone or in a team environment to complete tasks.
     

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.
  • Open to students enrolled in an engineering or engineering technology degree program.
  • Working knowledge of the proper use of common hand tools and understanding of common mechanical nomenclature.
  • Provide and maintain basic hand tools.
  • Familiarity with common mechanical equpiment including bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys, wheels, chains, couplers, shafting and similar power transmission comonents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental principles of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Able to work safely and effectively while elebated on ladders, platforms, or other structures at heights up to 200 feet above the ground.
  • Able to wear the proper uniforms according to safety standards.
  • Able to work a 40-48 hour week as required.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays during our operating season.
  • Able to perform physical work, including crawling, pushing, bending, stooping, and lifting boxes.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. abd walk with it to place in the correct space.
  • Able to walk up and down stairs and ladders.
  • Able to work in various weather conditions (rain, wind, cold, direct sunlight, high heat, humidity).
  • Be dependable and eager to learn!
     

Compensation:

  • $16 per hour plus a retention-based bonus, provided bonus eligibility criteria are met.
